Who is a smoothing treatment for?
Smoothing is for you if frizz wins every summer. Living near the water in Oceanport means damp, salty air from spring into fall. A blowout that looked great at 8 a.m. can puff up by lunch.
It also suits anyone who spends too long with a round brush and a flat iron. After a treatment, hair dries smoother with less effort. Fine hair that frizzes and thick hair that takes ages to dry can both benefit. We pick the treatment to suit yours. You can still wear it wavy or curly when you want to. Your routine gets shorter, and humidity stops undoing your effort.

Treatment rates depend on the service and your hair's length and thickness. Our apprentices also offer Keratin and Brazilian Blowout and Keratin Express at a lower rate. Every smoothing rate is listed on our Service Menu.
How does a smoothing treatment work?
- Assess. We check your texture and ask how sleek you want to go, from less frizz to fully straight.
- Cleanse. We wash your hair to clear away buildup, so the treatment can grab onto clean hair.
- Apply. We apply the treatment section by section, from the roots through the ends.
- Seal. We dry and seal the product in with heat.
- Aftercare. Depending on the treatment, you leave with specific timing for your first wash and styling.
How do you make your smoothing results last?
Use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, and follow the aftercare timing your stylist gives you. Most Keratin and Brazilian Blowout results last around three to five months, depending on your hair and home care.
Rinse with clean water after the ocean or the pool, since salt and chlorine wear treatments down faster. Add Deep Conditioning to your visit if your ends feel dry. Who does smoothing treatments at Rogue?
Brittani, our Co-Owner and Stylist, leads our smoothing work. Keratin treatments are one of her specialties, and she has trained through keratin certifications. Cathy, with over 30 years in the hair industry, specializes in smoothing keratin treatments, and Allie lists keratin treatments too. Our Senior Apprentice, Maddie, does keratin and Brazilian Blowout at an apprentice rate.

Keratin and Brazilian Blowout smooth and soften while keeping movement, so they won't leave you poker straight. If straight is the goal, ask about Magic Sleek, our sleekest, straightest finish. Your stylist will help you pick the level of sleek you want.
Can I still wear my hair curly after keratin?
Yes. Keratin and Brazilian Blowout reduce frizz and cut styling time, but you can still wear waves or curls whenever you like. Many guests find their curls look more defined because the frizz around them is calmer.
What is Magic Sleek Emergency Repair?
It's a quick fix between full Magic Sleek treatments. If a section starts to frizz or lose its sleekness before you're due, the emergency repair touches it up. It's not a replacement for a full treatment, just a way to keep things smooth until your next one.
Is a body wave a smoothing treatment?
No. A Body Wave works in the opposite direction. It adds soft, loose shape to straight or flat hair instead of smoothing texture away. It's on our smoothing menu because it's another way to change your hair's texture for months at a time.
How long does a keratin treatment last?
Most Keratin and Brazilian Blowout results last around three to five months. How long yours lasts depends on your hair, how often you wash, and your shampoo. Sulfate free products help most. Salt water and chlorine shorten the life of the treatment, so rinse after swimming.
